19th C Chinese Cloisonne Ginger Jar

Sale price Price $200.00 Regular price

This is a fine example of a late Qing cloisonne ginger jar. It has a floral pattern in a classic Buddhist style on a green ground that was less common than the turquoise background normally seen during the period. The foliage and scrolls are in various colors of yellow, shades of blue, white and deep red complimented by rust red borders around the bottom of the lid and above the foot. A receipt for the original purchase of the jar, dated April 1970, indicate that the jar was over 150 years old at that time. This would date the jar to the beginning of the first quarter of the 19th century.

There are no signs of damage only imperfections consistent with age. The jar is approximately 5.5 inches tall and 4.75 inches wide.
