Antique Satsuma Thousand Flowers Sugar Bowl
This Antique Satsuma Sugar Bowl is another great discovery! The Thousand Flower motif is depicted in the classic red, blue, green, and white of the chrysanthemums, posies, and other flowers. The gold is muted and the glaze is finely crackled, which is consistent with an earlier production date. The satsuma mark on the bottom is unusual even though it is in the typical red and gold style. The dish dates to the Meiji period (1868 - 1912). It is in excellent condition.
The dish approximately 5 inches across from handle to handle and approximately 3.5 inches tall. It is even more beautiful in hand.
