18th C Rauenstein Porcelain Tea Caddy
This 18th C Thurginian Porcelain Tea Caddy is one of the early pieces manufactured by Rauenstein. The ribbed design and the motif are consistent with early pieces from the late 18th century. The tea caddy is marked on the base.
The common Rauenstein factory was founded 1783 - 1784. There was porcelain being produced by Greiner Rauenstein as early as the 1750's according to online sources. The dated sticker on the piece reads "1775"; however, I have not confirmed that date. The sticker also reads "Parke Bernet", which is a Sotheby's company. That provenance has not been confirmed.
The dimensions are 4.25" x 3" x 1.75". There is no damage. There is wear consistent with age and use.
