Pair of 19th C Arita Imari Plates
This lovely Pair of 19th C Arita Imari Plates is a rare find in excellent condition. It features the "Three Friends of Winter", cherry blossoms, pines, and bamboo surrounded by outer alternating panels of phoenix and dragons in underglaze blue. The inner border consists of geometric shapes, alternating with stylized ruyi heads. The floral motif is offset by geometric designs wonderfully detailed and outlined in gold. The gilding is in excellent condition. This pair is a will make a nice addition to any collection.
There is a six character mark in Kaishu painted on the base inside a double blue ring. The pair is from the late Edo or early Meiji period.
There is no damage. The plates have a diameter of approximately 7.75 inches.
