Original Chochungdo Painting - Roosters, Butterflies, Birds and Flowers

Sale price Price $100.00 Regular price

This is a wonderful original painting by a Korean artist thought to be Nam Gyeowoo from the late Choson period. The signature and seals cannot be fully deciphered; however the style and artistry is very similar. The inscription on the painting is from a Chinese poem by Du Fu. It roughly translates to the following:

Deserted temple stands behind the willows
Spring is going wild between the water filled fields
Beautiful flowers and bamboos are reflected on them
Birds tend not return to the mountains

The painting measures 10.5 x 36 inches, with the bamboo frame.  Stamp on back confirms the painting was framed in 1962
