Dehua Blue and White 19th C Chinese Porcelain Plate
This 19th C Dehua Blue and White Chinese Porcelain Plate depicts a scholar and a student in underglaze blue hand painted decoration. They are shown under a tree in a landscape scene with scholarly articles nearby. The student appears to be carrying a water dropper and there is a paint brush in a brush holder on the table on the opposite side of the tree.
The base is unglazed, smooth to the touch, with a slightly pinkish tinge to the exposed clay. The base style and foot rim indicate a 19th century Qinq production date.
The weight shown gives consideration to the extra padding necessary for safe shipping. The plate weighs about 1.5 pounds. It has an approximate 10 inch diameter.
There are what appears to be 3 hairline fissures; all shown in pictures. Additional pictures added and more available upon request.
