This is a one of many tintypes created from depictions of the 16th president of the United States. This pose, and possibly this tintype, was used as campaign paraphernalia, not unlike the buttons made later. This specific pose originated from a photograph taken of President Lincoln in the late 19th century. It is the same posed used on early five dollar bills. This little treasure is sure to delight any collector of presidential memorabilia. .
The tintype is small. It measures approximately 1 inch by .75 inch. The condition is as shown in the photos. I didn't attempt to remove the brass frame to inspect the reverse of the tintype because I didn't want to risk damaging the photo.
