Antique Shuzan Satsuma "Thousand Flowers" Plate
This lovely estate find is a 4 inch work of art. The red, blue, green, and white floral motif depicts chrysanthemums, posies, and other flowers wonderfully detailed and outlined in gold. There is also gilt around the edge and the marking on the bottom is in gold. The raised white enamel decorations and hand painted details can be easily felt when touching the plate. The mark reads Shuzan under the Shimazu family crest.Late 19th to early 20th century, of the Meiji period (1868 - 1912). Overall excellent condition. Diameter 4" from lobe to lobe.
