Southeast Asian Celadon Ceramic Shou Statue
This is a beautiful depiction of the God of Longevity. He is holding a staff and bearing a symbol of immortality: the peach. The statue has a pale celadon glaze, with the exception of the face and hands. The facial features are very detailed and realistic, exemplifying the craftsmanship of the artist. The statue is attached to an old wood base. It is believed that there is a "Bien Hoa" mark based on another statue in this same form bearing the Bien Hoa mark. The age of the statue is unknown, but thought to be early 20th century, possibly older.
The figure is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or nicks. There are signs of age and wear. The wooden base is also cracked and chipped. The figure is approximately 12" tall, 14 inches when base is included.
