Japanese Famille Noire Vase
Skillfully decorated and hand painted baluster vase with a flaring mouth rim. The vase is decorated with a continuous floral motif on a black ground. The only apparent mark is what appears to be the character for the number 6, which can represent luck, happiness, or blessings (per Gotheborg) or it may simply be a maker's mark on the base. The inside and base are fully glazed. The age is unknown but according estate representative, the vase was purchased overseas during the mid to late 20th century.
There is no damage and the only signs of wear are the foot and staining in the interior from use (may be removed with water but didn't want to risk damage). Prior owner kept displayed flowers in the vase. Measurements are 12.5" tall with a flaring mouth measuring 5.5" diameter.
