Pair of 19th Century Rose Medallion Porcelain Vases
This Pair of 19th Century Rose Medallion Porcelain Vases are a true rarity in decoration and form. While the court scene depicted was used as a decoration for many types of vases during the 19th century, the style and form of the handles on this pair pair of moon flasks make them unique. The side panels feature wonderfully shaded flowers and vividly painted birds. The background consists of a common floral motif highlighted in orange-red trim and gilt. The vases date to the early 19th century.
The is some loss of gilt consistent with age, specifically on the handles. There are also 3 small chips along the border surrounding the court scenes. The most severe loss of enamel is shown in pictures and mainly on one side of one vase. There are other imperfections consistent with age. These have been captured in the pictures.
The vases are approximately 12 inches (31 cm) tall and 7.5 inches (19 cm) wide.
