Japanese Blue and White Porcelain Brush Pot
The landscape scene on this artfully painted Japanese Blue and White Porcelain Brush Pot depicts figure in a boat is drifting near the shore; birds are flying among the trees; and a house that appears to be on a hillside. There are also birds depicted on the reverse and a drifting boat. The upper rim is decorated with simple rings, one thick and the lower thin.
The piece is not marked. There is kiln grit and the paste on the unglazed rim is smooth and very white. The glaze on the foot is visibly crazed. Whereas is the crazing on the rest of the body is less pronounced. There are turn marks visible to the interior and exterior and remnants of paint are still in the pot.
There are no chips or cracks. The piece is in excellent condition. The pot dates to the late 19th century to early 20th century. This was confirmed by a certified antique appraiser.
The pot is approximately 5.5 inches tall and 4 inches wide. The weight given is with consideration to the packaging required for safe shipment.
