This Antique Blue and White Swatow charger is decorated in a pattern that was used from the Ming Dynasty through the 20th century using calligraphic lines and stylized symbol. The center medallion is surrounded by an unglazed ring which is bordered by a double ring. Additional underglaze blue rings decorate the exterior and surround the unglazed foot rim. There are firing flaws, kiln grit, and other imperfections consistent with age and use. The charger has a hairline crack, but no other apparent damage.
